Ekumfi Comments: What Prez Akufo-Addo Said Was In Jest - Richard Asante

Deputy Communications Director for the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP), Richard Asante Yeboah has implored Ghanaians to take President Nana Addo's remarks on Ekumfi lightly, as, to him, the President meant no harm.

Some traditional leaders called on the President at the Jubilee House to resolve the developmental challenges at Ekumfi in the Central Region.

The traditional leaders bemoaned the poor state of their roads, among other deplorable conditions of the community and its residents.

In response, the President revealed he has intentionally denied Ekumfi a share of the national development because they didn't elect an NPP member, Ato Cudjoe, as their Member of Parliament.

“Ato Cudjoe was your MP and I made him a Deputy Minister and you voted him out in the last elections and because of that, I did not pay attention to development in your area, I have to be honest with you but since you have brought it up I will pay attention to it," the President said.

The President has therefore received public agitation and outbursts following his comments.

But Richard Asante, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Servants Housing Loan Scheme, says the President made the statements in jest.

According to him, there is no way the President would neglect the people of Ekumfi, citing that the government is already developing the community as the community benefits from their free SHS policy and infrastructure developmental projects.

"Everything that the government rolls out goes across the country," he emphasized on "Kokrokoo" panel discussion show on Peace FM.
