NPP Failing To Protect Its Experienced MPs – Old Tafo MP Claims

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has accused the leadership of his party of doing little to protect experienced parliamentarians.

“I can say the party is failing to make sure MPs stay for long and learn,” he claimed.

Disappointment and surprise marked the NPP’s parliamentary primaries on Saturday, January 27, as several prominent incumbents saw their bids for re-election dashed.

In a major upset, the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Freda Prempeh, was ousted in the Tano North constituency.

Similarly, Dome-Kwabenya witnessed a stunning defeat for Adwoa Safo, among other shocking results.

This has raised questions about the NPP parading newcomers to parliament in the next election.

Vincent Ekow Assafuah, who is not happy with the development, called on the party leadership to strategize and protect senior MPs.

“This is a problem; parliament is not about speaking good English; it’s the technicalities. The party should do better to protect its experienced MPs,” he told NEAT FM's morning show, 'Ghana Montie' in an interview.
