Benyiwa Doe Fires Ursula Over New Anti-Mills Song

Central Regional Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa Doe, has launched a blistering attack at Ursula Owusu, a member of the campaign team of the NPP Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo. The tongue-lashing was in response to a new anti-Mills song that appears to have been composed by the Madam Ursula Owusu and sang to Ghanaians in London at a gathering where Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing a section of Ghanaians as he amasses support. At that event, Madam Ursula Owusu, who first wore the printed T-shirts with the inscription of the infamous all die be die phrase, was heard loudly leading a singing group to sing the song. The campaign song, composed in the Akan parlance, basically says nothing is working in the country yet one cannot complain because any criticism against the President is considered an insult. There is no job in Ghana; all the jobs in Ghana have gone bad. But who are you to mention it? If you do, you will be accused of insulting Atta Mills. Its a big problem. Atta has collapsed health insurance; Atta has ruined Youth Employment programme, yet when you say it, they will say you are insulting Atta Mills. Its a big problem the song says. In a sharp rebuttal to the song and its lyrics, as well as issues raised by key NPP members in London, Madam Ama Benyiwa Doe said the NPP has shown that it lacks what it takes to take over power from the NDC. Responding to a claim by Hon. Joe Ghartey that the NDC was presiding over all forms of lawlessness, Madam Benyiwa Doe told said although there have been instances where party foot soldiers have gotten at their DCEs, there has not been anything untoward to warrant such harsh criticisms from the NPP, which supervised similar acts in the past. The Central Regional Minister also described as unfair Hon. Gharteys claims that fishermen who were on a peaceful demonstration were tear-gassed, whilst rampaging NDC foot soldiers are left to lock up government offices freely. She explained that in the case of the fishermen, they failed to stick to the routes of the demonstration hence the response from the police. According to her, some NDC members have been arrested over such incidents. I think that the NPP has no programme because one would have expected that as eminent citizens who want power again, they would have had something worthwhile to present to Ghanaians overseas. As for Ursula, I am not surprised because when she was at Legon, she fought a certain woman because she claimed the woman had visited her boyfriend at Akuafo Hall. She went and beat up this woman that her boyfriend has imported from outside, broke plates and all that, and the Legon News Letter wrote a hot article on her. And so anybody of such a character will sing any kind of song. And where was Osafo Marfo, when Professor Mills made his PHD at 27? she asked. Let me advice the NPP, seriously speaking, it doesnt look like they are really eager to get into power. If they are eager, they will be able to tell us their vision which they dont have. Akufo-Addo is going for the second time and I know he will miss it miserably and he will never try again because by then others will bypass him. So those are the things they should be thinking about instead of these songs because anybody from the gutters can sing it. We want a party that can tell us their programmes and vision and follow their manifesto to the latter. After all, Atta Mills two years has done a lot more than President Kufuors eight years. What did Kufuor have to show except a chain that he ordered with hard-earned money to put around his neck. I believe that they dont seem to know what exactly they are doing. If you travel to Europe and you can only go and sing a song and not tell the people what you can do better, then I am sorry they dont have what it takes to take over from the NDC and thats why they will lose miserably again she said.
