NDC Hierarchy Caves In To Konadus Demands

NDC Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo and Campaign Coordinator, Nana Konadu For President 2012, Michael Teye Nyaunu, has revealed that there will not be any regional bloc voting system as proposed by the partys hierarchy in the impending delegates congress scheduled to take place this weekend in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region. A couple of days ago, General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah announced that the Electoral Commission will oversee the organization of the partys elections for a flagbearer at the July 8-10 Congress; and voting will be done on a regional basis. This was met with some fierce resistance from the campaign team of the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, resulting in the issuance of press releases and writing of protest letters to the party's General Secretary and National Executives. But speaking to Shamima Muslim on Citi Fm, Hon Teye Nyaunu stated that based on their explanations that that particular voting system will intimidate delegates since some of them (delegates) will be afraid of losing their positions should they vote for a particular candidate, the national executive agreed to do away with it. We told them that it was going to bring division in the party which will not augur well for us. We said it initially and they disagreed but we thank God that they have now accepted it... So that issue has been resolved. A lot of delegates were excited about it as well because they know their positions are safe and void of any intimidations, Hon Nyaunu said.
