Asantehene Condemns False Prophets

Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, Asantehene, has urged Church leaders to fashion out self-regulating mechanisms to check the activities of charlatans and false prophets. He said they should do everything to protect the sanctity and image of priesthood. He described as deeply worrying, the manner in which some self-professed Men of God were taking advantage of the ignorance and fear of insecurity of some people to dupe them. They are using false doctrines and spurious prophecies to achieve self-serving agenda, he complained. Otumfuo Osei Tutu said fraudsters parading as priests must be exposed and shamed to restore credibility and public confidence in the Church. The Asantehene said this in a speech read for him by Oheneba Adusei Poku, Akyempimhene, at the ordination of 17 ministerial probationers of the Northern Sector of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) in Kumasi. Having completed the mandatory two-year probation period of the church they were officially ordained into the ministry of God. Otumfuo Osei Tutu asked the clergy to see their work as a call to serve mankind. It was incumbent on them to adhere strictly to the teachings of the Holy Bible, he advised.
