NDC Warn Miscreants Ahead Of Sunyani Congress

Citi News has picked up signals that some persons purported to be agents of the two leading contestants of the NDC Presidential hopefuls are in Tamale recruiting hooligans to go and cause trouble at the much awaited NDC national delegates congress slated for July 8 to 10 in Sunyani. As part of preparations in that regard, there is shortage of a locally made special whip designed with animal leather and known as Baranzim in the local parlance. Speaking exclusively to Citi News on this issue and preparations underway, Alhaji Umar Yussif Alhassan, Northern Regional Secretary of the NDC warned the party youth particularly those in Tamale against any attempt to go and cause trouble in Sunyani in favour of any of the two leading contestants, President John Evans Atta Mills and Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings. He hinted that the security operatives will be firm on the ground and ready to deal mercilessly with any trouble causer as a miscreant and not a party member. Alhaji Umar Yussif maintained that the security operatives will not be mindful of the NDC party colour at the congress ground for which reason party members especially those from Northern Region who will find themselves there to behave well. The Northern Regional NDC Scribe urged the youth of Northern Ghana to discard the notion that they can always be used to cause troubles by some selfish individuals to win power at all cost. He also challenged them to re-channel their resources into productive ventures that will help government and its development partners fight against poverty, unemployment and illiteracy that have engulfed the entire Northern Ghana. Alhaji Umar Yussif disclosed that about 300 NDC delegates drawn from the 26 constituencies in the Northern Region will leave Tamale Friday July 7 for Techiman where they are expected to stay and attend the congress in Sunyani. He gave the breakdown as 10 regional executives, 20 DCEs, 22 MPs and 248 constituency delegates including two observer status from each constituency.
