SPOKESPERSON for the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams has welcomed the decision of Ghana�s Electoral Commission (EC) not to support the regional bloc voting being proposed by the ruling party at its upcoming delegates� congress, saying such a move will only bring disunity into the NDC. He said former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings� campaign team had raised some concerns about the issue and officially written to the EC and the party about the mode of voting for the congress scheduled to take off on Friday at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region. He was worried that the regional voting system will undermine the unity of the NDC, something he said Mrs. Rawlings� campaign team �will not allow to happen.� Mr. Adams stated that the EC had given indications that it is in the position to organize and finish the elections by 5:00pm on the voting day especially with the use of multiple voting screens at the congress. He said that the campaign team of Mrs. Rawlings was planning to meet the top hierarchy of the NDC to address the various concerns they have sent to them concerning the congress. Mr. Adams was of the view that the delegates themselves have seen the other acts of intimidation the Konadu campaign team has been complaining about and believes the �other group� has been exposed. He expressed optimism about the former First Lady�s chances of winning the flagbearership position due to her hard work and dedication to national development. He said Nana Konadu will make history just like the newly elected first female Taiwanese premier, Yingluck Shinawatra when she eventually becomes the first woman president of Ghana in the 2012 general elections. Kofi Adams explained that the need for unity in the NDC was the main reason for Mrs. Rawlings� presidential bid, adding that she is willing to help build the party if she loses, provided the that she is given the room and environment to do so.
