The Communications Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho has reiterated the National Democratic Congress� (NDC) commitment to work with the Rawlingses to ensure total victory in the 2012 general elections. According to Koku Anyidoho, former President Rawlings� raising of President Mills� hand after the declaration of the results signifies that the unity of the NDC has began. �We had a peaceful congress, we are united for 2012; we are now one family under the umbrella, the NPP should watch out,� he warned. Koku was speaking on Adom FM Monday morning after the NDC�s Congress which was held in Sunyani over the weekend. The Delegates Congress which was to elect a flag bearer for the party saw President Mills winning overwhelmingly. He pulled 2,777 representing 96. 9 per cent with his main competitor, former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings getting only 90 votes representing 3.1 per cent and Koku Anyidoho said the result was already a foregone conclusion. �In 2006, the same delegates voted for President Mills so why should they change their minds this time around? It was a foregone conclusion and going to Sunyani was just a mere formality,� he added. He also gave the President�s win a religious twist, saying it was the will of God that ensured President Mills won the elections adding that he is working hard and not stealing state funds so God will see him through his administration. Answering a question about how President Mills was able to stand up to the Rawlingses, Koku Anyidoho said it was a matter of principle. He said Professor Mills is the President now and he has his own governance style which even though may not be liked by everyone is his identity as well. He further stated that those who did not believe that the NDC�s Congress will be peaceful had been put to shame saying the party has now matured in democracy with its democratic credentials very tall now. In a happy mood, Koku Anyidoho said the entry of Nana Konadu into the flagbearership race was not necessarily bad because it has kept the party engine alive and thanked her for contesting and not allowing President Mills and his team to become complacent. He however said it was unfortunate that some people from the former First Lady�s campaign team got carried away and became abusive and insulting. Koku Anyidoho offered some advice to the supporters of Nana Konadu that politics is about timing and striking at the right time and not going on a wild goose chase.
