Residents at Zongo Junction near Lartebiokorshie in Accra were Tuesday morning greeted with a horrifying spectacle, when a young man allegedly shot his fianc�e and shot himself in addition.
Francis Aniah, 28, allegedly shot Efua Essemba, 20, at the chest. Police say both the suspect and the victim have all been admitted at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
The Korle-Bu District Police Commander, ASP Abraham Apusiyene told Asempa News that an eyewitness Mr. Ricky Anokye, who is a Channel Manager at Multi TV, together with some passersby, sent the victim to the police station and aided the police to arrest Francis Aniah.
He said Francis Aniah has been placed under tight security on his hospital bed. ASP Apusiyene said the police will later take their statements after they have been revived. He also commended Ricky Anokye for the high sense of nationalism he exhibited.
