Organiser: Decision To Cancel Ghana-Nigeria Match Right Despite Huge Financial Losses

The organiser of the aborted Ghana-Nigeria friendly in says it was the right decision to call off Tuesdays friendly in London despite the huge financial losses he has incurred. Justin Addo, the boss of Jv2i Consult, added that there was no choice but to cancel the fixture following a third night of riots that spread throughout London. Despite spending huge amounts of money running into hundreds of thousands of dollars in preparation for the match at the Vicarage Road stadium, Addo insists the safety of supporters and the players is paramount. We didnt have to think twice about it because we value the lives of the players, fans, officials and all others coming for the game, Addo told GHANAsoccernet.com. We informed both Ghana and Nigeria of our decision and we thank them for their co-operation, understanding and support during this difficult period. Yes we have made huge losses but we are happy that the fans of Ghana and Nigeria as well as the players and officials are still alive. We considered what was happening in London and we did not think twice about it because we want all the people alive. We didnt have to think about the losses. Every human life is precious. Once the fans and the players are still alive, Ghana-Nigeria can be played in London again when things are calm. Several Ghana players were devastated that the game did not take place but understand the decision to cancel the game because of the riots in London. Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey and his Stromgodset team-mate Mohammed Abu as well Bristol City winger Albert Adomah were scheduled for their Ghana debuts when the game was called off. Hundreds of fans travelled from Ghana and Nigeria to watch the match but they have also been left disappointed as they now seek to return home. Fans of the two countries living in London were also disappointed that the match did not take place but understand the decision to call the match off.
