The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Procurement Authority, Sallas Mensah, says although they have not received any report from the Electoral Commission regarding procurement for the production of biometric voter ID, one of the companies shortlisted for the production of the ID Cards has sent a complaint to the Authority for redress. He told Radio Ghana that the complaint is being investigated for appropriate action. Meanwhile, the political parties in Ghana have been registering their concerns over the printing of biometric ID cards by the EC. While some disagree with the nature of procurement and short listing of service providers, others have sent the EC to court. Some have also called for transparency in the process. The 2008 flagbearer of the CPP, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom believes transparency should be the focus. He suggested that the EC should liaise with the National Identification Authority to ensure transparency in the 2012 elections. The Director of Elections of the NPP, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh denied any walk out during the EC's meeting. He said what the NPP is calling for is an emergency IPAC meeting to voice out their concerns. The NPP also raised concerns about the injunction placed on the EC not to go ahead with biometric voter ID. The propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Richard Quashigah stated that political parties who are crying foul of the process at the EC are doing so for their parochial reason. He told Radio Ghana that those political parties are creating confusion in the minds of the people knowing well that the 2012 election is a foregone conclusion.
