Policeman Captured On CCTV Stealing From Bank

A Police Corporal, Awudu Issah has been arrested for allegedly stealing an amount of GH800 from the counter of the Wenchie Rural Bank in the Brong Ahafo Region. Officials of the bank told The Finder newspaper that Awudu Issah was detailed to provide security at the Wenchi Rural Bank last Friday, but he stole the amount when a client of the bank, after withdrawing the money, left it on the counter to transact another business at a different counter. Shortly after finishing the second transaction, the client returned to find out that the GH80 was missing. The client informed management of the bank about the missing money, which then prompted a search. After searching for a while, the branch manager of the bank decided to view the banks CCTV footages captured on the day. In the course of viewing the recording, Corporal Issah was seen taking the money from the counter. The Wenchi Divisional Police was then called to effect the arrest of Corporal Issah. The corporal was taken away and put behind bars after he was made to write his statement. When contacted, the Wenchi Divisional Police Crime Officer, DSP Joe Lartey Lawson confirmed the arrest of Corporal Issah, adding that he was still in police custody whilst the necessary documentation concerning the case had been forwarded to the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command in Sunyani for further directions.
