Ghana captain John Mensah played his first league match this season on Wednesday night for Olympique Lyonnais after regaining full fitness.
The centre-back missed the opening six matches due to a calf injury sustained during pre-season.
Mensah played the entire duration as Les Gones lost 1-0 at Caen but are in third place on the Ligue 1 table.
It was his first Ligue 1 match in two years after loan spells at English Premier League side Sunderland.
His return is a boost to Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic ahead of next month�s 2012 Africa Cup Group I decider against Sudan.
Mensah could also be available for the Black Stars international friendly against Nigeria on 11 October in London.
Caen had Ghanaian Jerry Vandam play full throttle in the win.
