STATEMENT: ROTARY Accra Labone Marks 10th Anniversary

Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are business and professional volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self. Rotary Club of Accra �Labone is a group of professionals/businessmen and women who form the Club and members are called Rotarians. Rotarians are grouped into clubs at the country level which then are grouped into Districts and Zones at the International level. Rotary Club of Accra-Labone is a Club in District 9100 and the club was chartered on the 29th of June, 2001. Rotary Club of Accra-Labone in the past has undertaken projects like; � Construction of a well at Okineman, near Kwabenya-2007 � Donation of Audio Visual Equipment to Reach for Recovery Ghana in support of the Breast Awareness project-2007/2008 � Donation of Television Set/DVD to the Autism Awareness, Care and Training Centre � Kokomlemle-2009 � Refurbishment of the Centre for Abused Children (Tiling of Bathrooms, washrooms and associated plumbing works) -2009 � Donation of Medical & Computer Equipment to �House of Refuge�, Street Girls Aid at Abofu-Achimota. � Donation of Books to La Yahoshua & Rangoon JHS-2008 and Shared Foundation -2011 � Water Project-Provided a Borehole at Apauwawase Epicenter -2011 � Donation of Hearing Aid Equipments to the University of Education Winneba-2011 � Refurbishment of Children�s Ward of Nsawam Government Hospital-2011 The Rotary Club of Accra � Labone is celebrating its 10th Anniversary and the theme of the celebration is �Embracing Humanity a Decade of Service�. As part of the celebrations the following service projects have been earmarked for the 10th anniversary;  Embarking on an Eye screening for Commercial Drivers  Organizing a Major Road Safety Education Campaign & Eye screening in conjunction with the Road Safety Commission,MTTU and DVLA  Produce a Major Road Safety Education Campaign on Television, Radio and Print to educate Children and the General Public on Road Safety.  Providing an Incubator for Nsawam Government Hospital (Children�s Ward)  Procuring a LCD TV/DVD set for Public Health Education The Rotary club of Accra- Labone is calling on all Rotarians, Benevolent institutions, Corporate institutions , Charity organizations as well as NGO�s to partner us to better the lives of the underprivileged in society while contributing in building a better community.
