Would-Be Hajj Pilgrims Demonstrate At Hajj Village

Some aggrieved prospective Hajj Pilgrims and their relatives have given the National Hajj Committee up to then end of this afternoon to provide them with visas for the journey to Saudi Arabia or face a massive demonstration. Some of the aggrieved members who said they have been at the Hajj Village for more than a week now said they feel cheated. They said they will stage a peaceful demonstration to the Saudi Embassy and the Hajj Board to demand their visas. Some of them who spoke to Citi News said I paid for my mum last year but she could not go because the agent said the number was too much. "I did not take back my money and when we heard the announcement on radio I quickly rushed my mum here and when the names were mentioned her name was not among. All we want now is that they should give us our money and our passports. We would organize a peaceful demonstration to the Castle. Another lamented that I have paid for three people to go to Hajj this year and up till now none of them has not left. I am among the first people who paid. My people were supposed to have left with the first and second flights. We are given them up the end of the afternoon, if they do not have any good news we would demonstrate. Meanwhile, the group is strongly opposed by other stranded pilgrims at the Hajj Village who want the issue to be handled with patience. They said they are praying and looking up to the committee for an eleventh hour rescue. Hajia Mansura Saani is one of them. She told Citi News I dont want him to go on demonstration because you just came in and you see that there is a problem, what you have to do is to see the board members or the agents and find out if we are going or not. Then they would narrate their side of the story to you but you didnt do all these, you just come here and organize a demonstration, it is fair? They called us and told us that we should be ready, 12pm we are going to check this people out and you are here doing different thing, what do you think the people would think about you? The National Hajj Committee has however told Citi News the fate of the last batch of pilgrims hangs in the balance.
