A female student of the Annor Adjaye Senior High (ANNAS) at Ezinlibo in the Jomoro District, has appealed to the Deputy Minister of Education, Madam Amoah Tetteh to fulfill her promise of financial help to enable her complete her SHS Education. The student, Miss Theresa Nwolley, a 36-year old SHS two student, made the appeal through the Jomoro District Coordinator of the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) of the Ministry of Education, Mr George Somiah, at Half Assini on Friday. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Half Assini on Saturday, Mr Somiah said Miss Nwolley, an illiterate became post-literate through NFED night classes at Ezinlibo in the Western Region some few years back. Mr Somiah, who is also the Jomoro District Coordinator of Teachers Against Malaria Epidemic (TAME), an NGO, operating in the area, said Miss Nwolley was enrolled in regular school and sat for the 2010 Basic Certificate Education Examination (BECE) which she passed and gained admission to the Annor Adjaye Senior High School at Ezinlibo. He said the woman�s achievement was a success story told at the Jomoro NFED during the NFED 2010 National Literacy Day celebration in Accra where the Deputy Minister of Education, Madam Amoah Tetteh, who addressed the gathering was enticed to promise assistance to the girl to complete her SHS education for her to realize her life ambition. Mr Somiah said when school re-opened last year, the womanl approached the NFED district office at Half Assini to collect the remittance from the Deputy Minister for payment of her school fees. According to Mr Somiah, fortunately for the Miss Nwolley, though the Deputy Minister had not yet sent any money to the NEFD office, the National Coordinator of the NGO, Madam Grace Essiam, who was on a visit to Half Assini on hearing the story of the woman, volunteered 250.00 Ghana Cedis for payment of her first year fees. The NFED District coordinator said up to date nothing has been received from the Deputy Minister and Miss Nwolley who is from a poor family, resulting in her inability to attend school during her childhood, was facing dire financial difficulties. He said the authorities of the Annor Adjaye SHS are demanding the fees urgently and according to the woman, there was no one to pay the fee for her adding, the NGO is also not in the position to help this time. Mr Somiah said the women could prematurely end her education if no help comes. Miss Nwolley, a mother of a 12-year old primary six boy, is therefore appealing to philanthropists to come to her aid to enable her complete her education.
