CPP Youth Urged To Stop Declaring Open Support For Any Candidate

The Western Regional branch of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) on Tuesday called on the partys youth wing to refrain from declaring open support for any candidate willing to contest as the flag bearer of the party. This is because the National Executive Committee of the party had not yet showed the green light for interested party faithfuls to either be nominated or go for primaries. A statement signed by Mr. Samuel Gordon Etroo, Regional Chairman and Mr. G. K. Alorzuke, Regional Secretary of the party respectively, also called on the Tertiary Students Network of the Party (TESCHART) to desist from making any pronouncement in favour of any candidate before a decision is taken by the national executive of the party. We want to reiterate that nominations have not been opened by the national executives of the party for the primaries of a flag bearer. It is therefore not expedient for any person or group of persons to suggest to the party who should be elected, the statement added. The statement therefore advised party faithfuls who are interested in the flag bearer slot to exercise restraints until such a time that the National Executive Committee would clear the way.
