THREE MEMBERS of a robbery gang, including a woman, were busted on Sunday evening in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital. The gang robbed a middle-aged man around the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Their arrest followed a prompt action taken by a motorist who had witnessed the incident and decided to assist the victim by giving the suspects a hot chase. The yet-to-be-identified miscreants had robbed their victim of GH500 near the Labour Office roundabout around 5.00pm on that day and were fleeing in the direction of the stadium area when they were arrested. According to Agya Amoah, an eyewitness, the trio was operating a Kumasi-based taxi cab with registration number AS1256Q with which they lured unsuspecting commuters and dispossessed them of their valuables. Popularly referred to as one chance robbers in neighbouring Nigeria, Agya Amoah said the suspected robbers allegedly snatched the mans wallet, said to contain GH500 and pushed him out of the cab before a motorist driving an Urvan bus blocked their way at the main stadium gate area following a chase. The male suspects were beaten up by a mob at the scene. The angry mob which descended heavily on the robbers with all sorts of implements, recovered the GH500 and gave it back to the victim before handing over the suspects to a police patrol team, who whisked them away. The suspects will be put before court soon. The police patrol team also took away the taxi cab used in the alleged daylight robbery. From Ernest Kofi Adu, Kumasi
