"Put The Interest Of The NDC Above All Consideration"

Alhaji Halidu Haruna of the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff aspiring for the Ablekuma Central seat under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has advised delegates to put the interest of the party above all consideration. We should be mindful of the fact that politics is not about division and enmity, and as much as one do not agree with any candidate that does not give those who hold contrary views to insult and fight others, he explained. Alhaji Haruna, who was addressing Abossey Okai NDC Ward delegates on Sunday, said it was imperative that all branch leaders brought together supporters in order to behave in a good manner during the primary to help consolidate peace and unity in the constituency. He gave the assurance that personality attacks would not be ingredients in his campaign message to the delegates to influence them to vote for him. Alhaji Haruna urged his supporters and sympathizers to eschew any form of negative conduct that would not be in the interest of the NDC during and after the primary. Highlighting on what he would do to help the constituency Alhaji Haruna said he had already formulated a development programme for the area in terms of providing social amenities and support to some youth and women in the small-scale sector. He said he would set up a constituency development fund and bring together all stakeholders in the constituency such as banks, spare parts dealers association, filling stations, private universities and private clinics to support the project. Alhaji Haruna said human resource development would be a priority, adding that the fund would assist unemployed youth to acquire skills in any business trade of their choice. He said under the proposed fund women would also be offered flexible credit facilities to set up their own small-scale businesses so as to create more jobs to alleviate poverty. Alhaji Haruna said the youth in the constituency had a leadership problem so they needed someone with a lot of dynamism and focus to assist them to achieve their aims in life. I will inject a new dynamic leadership and extend my experience and mobilise the youth through consultation in order to provide the desire goals and promise to still remain committed even if I lose and will work hard to ensure the NDC retain political power in the 2012 elections, he assured. Mr Mawuko Amedume, Abossey Okai Ward Coordinator commended the aspirant for the positive conduct he had exhibited so far in his submission. He cautioned the delegates in the constituency to abstain from acts that could create friction among the supporters and contestants.
