Well Defend Woyome With Our Blood Volta Youth

The Volta NDC Youth for Action, a group which was discredited by the Volta regional executives of the National Democratic Congress about four months ago, has made an incredible turnaround to defend the embattled NDC financier, Alfred Agbesi who is in the middle of the GH58million judgment brouhaha. This was contained in a press statement issued by the group in Accra on Thursday and read by one Agbe Mawunyo, claiming the entire Volta region was prepared to support and defend Mr. Woyome in honour of their love for him. The stance has come as a shock to many who follow political events in the region because in August last year, when this same group stood against the Volta Regional Minister, Joseph Amenowode, there were claims that Alfred Woyome, who is a also a close ally of the regional minister, took a strong position against them and supported the suspension of two of the leaders of the group, Alhaji Bello and Idikoko. Agbe Mawunyo said Mr. Woyome deserved better treatment by all and sundry, particularly the party and the entire Volta Region because he was a successful businessman and a politician who had made the region and party proud both nationally and internationally. Conveyer of the conference, Mr. Mawunyo, wondered why critics, some of who are intellectuals, would not use appellate court processes to resolve the matter but had rather resorted to using the media to attack the reputation of Alfred Woyome. Among the personalities castigated by Mr. Mawunyo are Okudzeto Ablakwaa, the Deputy Information Minister, the NPP and its flagbearer Nana Akufo Addo. He said, Indeed the silence of the Okudzeto led information Ministry is too loud and suspicious, adding, the deputy minister must apologise to the president for embarrassing him. It is strange Okudzeto claims to be loyal to the president and yet, refuses to openly defend the stance of the president, same way as he is doing in this rather war of wards with an NGO that has merely expressed its opinion on a certain loan being procured by government. We dont want to believe he is working with the NPP in this regard, he noted. He further noted that the NPP must issue an unqualified apology to Woyome for victimizing him and his business partners, adding that the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo, must be suspented for being part of the Kufuor cabinet that illegally terminated a lawful contract. The group said it was their hope that Alfred Woyome would continue to help the poor and needy in the region. The Volta NDC Youth for Action is the group that led a demonstration through the principal streets of Ho last August to register their displeasure about what they described as the non-performance of the Regional Minister, Joseph Amenowode and the Ho Municipal Chief Executive Isaac Kodobisah. It would be recalled that on the day of the demonstration, the group was arrested by the police for unlawful demonstration and disturbing public peace. Shortly after the demonstration, the Secretary of the Ho Central Constituency of the NDC, Stanley Glate, without the knowledge of his Chairman, suspended the leaders of the group, Alhaji Bello and one Idikoko.
