A Ghanaian man, Edward Macauley has pleaded guilty to conspiring to import heroin into the United States, federal prosecutors have stated. Macauley, 61, also known as Cudjoe Opoku, entered the plea Tuesday. He faces a minimum of 10 years in prison at sentencing on April 6. According to court documents, Macauley led a heroin trafficking organization based in Ghana that recruited couriers to hide heroin in carry-on bags and wigs to smuggle into the U. S. through Dulles International Airport.
