Betty Mould Iddrisu Apologises...

Minister of Education and former Attorney-General, Hon. Betty Mould Iddrisu has apologized to all media men for 'disappointing' them yesterday. What was widely expected to be a press conference to offer her an opportunity to respond to the media and opposition attacks on her over the Woyome saga turned out to be a platform for the Education Ministry to tell journalists what the former Attorney-General has been doing to improve the quality of basic education in Ghana. The sector minister was missing in action at the start of the press conference. Instead, her deputy, Mahama Ayariga, was drafted to stand in for her. After a long wait by the assembled press, Betty Mould-Iddrisu, came limping in and said she was not even feeling well. .when the journalists finished with Hon. Ayarigas press briefing, we trooped there and I was disturbed at the attitude of one or two of the journalists. They could see I had a little problem with my leg and I was in pain but they were irritatedI wont blame them she said in an interview on Radio Golds newspaper review. Explaining further, she said Hon. Ayariga was to address that particular press conference since she had been detailed to be at another function, adding that the protocol department informed her the letter they sent out to the various media houses informed them (Media) of a press conference but not the purpose. According to her, it was purely speculative that she was going to comment on the Woyome issue. I am a former Attorney General and speaking about such an issue is just not allowedso I do apologize; I apologize profusely to the journalists at my lateness and I do apologize to those journalists that I am sorry if there was a misunderstanding. I was never part of that misunderstandingI have asked Hon. Ayariga to clear it up immediatelyI do apologize to those who have been misled. It was a genuine mistake and a clear misunderstanding, she said.
