NDC Is Sinking In Rot FONKAR

The director of Operations for Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR), has stated that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is gradually sinking in rot. This according to Ernest Owusu Bempah was because the magnitude of corruption that had engulfed the Mills-led government was unprecedented in the countrys history. He noted that government functionaries were not only grabbing properties right, left and center but were also looting the nations confers for selfish gain. The outspoken director of operations noted in an interview with Angel Fm in Kumasi that he Alfred Agbesi Woyome saga was a clear manifestation of the rot in the current administration. Mr. Bempah wondered why such a whopping sum of money could be paid to an individual as judgement debt when it could have been utilized for the benefit of the masses. He said it was not surprising that former President Rawlings accused government functionaries of chasing money during the early days of the Mills administration. Bempah bemoaned the current situation saying the development defeats the probity and accountability principles that underpinned the formation of the ruling party and expressed fears that should the trend continue, it will be extremely difficult for the party to retain power in the forthcoming polls since Ghanaians will no longer tolerate corruption. He was not happy that anytime people like ex-President Rawlings and others within the party speak against the rot in the NDC, they become objects of attack from certain people in the party. The director of operations pointed out that Mr. Rawlings and people who believe in his ideals will continue to speak against the ills in the NDC to save the party from destruction. Mr. Bempah condemned the attacks on Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Martin Amidu, coupled with the internal machinations by some elements within the party to get him removed from office. He said these moves were in bad taste because President Mills former running mate has demonstrated by his response to the Woyome saga that he upholds the spirit and tenets of probity and accountability. Bempah believes the A-G should rather be encouraged to expose and fight corruption in government irrespective of who is involved. Daily guide
