NDC To Expel Independent MPs

The National Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have warned losers of last Saturdays parliamentary primaries against going independent saying the party will not hesitate to dismiss anyone who decides to break away. Some incumbent MPs, including Michael Teye Nyaunu of Lower Manya Krobo who lost in the parliamentary primaries have told Citi News that they are considering contesting in the 2012 elections as independent candidates. But a deputy General Secretary of the NDC in charge of Operations, George Lawson in an interview with Citi News said the party is yet to be informed officially of such intentions. He however said efforts will be made to get all losers on board to ensure victory for the party in December. The fact is if you go independent then you will be expelled from the party. We must abide by our principles and not compromise with it. Anyone who goes independent has decided not to be part with us he said. Mr. Lawson also stated that all is set for the partys parliamentary primaries in the Greater Accra region on Saturday January 28.
