Dan Lartey's Son Angry

The general secretary of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Adam Ali has rubbished a communication by one Saeed Alhassan that the party has been dissolved and absorbed by the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), formed by former torch bearer of the Convention Peoples Party, Papa Kwesi Nduom. According to Mr. Ali, as far as the party was concerned, Mr. Alhassan who claimed to be a general secretary of the GCPP is an imposter who must be disregarded by the PPP. Speaking with The Heritage in separate interviews, the general secretary and acting chairman of the party, Mr. Ali and Dr. Henry Herbert Lartey, son of the Late Dan Lartey, respectively debunked reports that the GCPP has been dissolved to join the PPP. Dr. Lartey who was beside himself with anger, alleged that Mr. Alhassan is a fraudster who once harassed his late father, on several occasions, until he was sacked from the GCPP in 2004. Below is a subsequent release signed by Dr. Lartey and copied to The Heritage yesterday: Defection story not true This is to inform the Electoral Commission, the Political Parties, the media and the general public that the press statement issued by Alhassan Saeed and Gilbert Barnor on a plain A4 sheet of paper that the national executives of the GCPP have defected to an unregistered political party is false and totally untrue. These two people are not members of our party. They are imposters! The Police have been informed about heir fraudulent behavior. We are aware that they were both rejected by the URP and the DFP respectively. In addition, Alhassan Saeed was arrested a year ago and put in jail at the Nima Police station by Mr. Kofi Wayo, the Leader of the URP, for lodging in a hotel several times at the expense of the URP without the consent of the party, and during his time with the URP he is also alleged to have stolen US$5,000. I understand from Mr. Kofi Wayo that he agreed to the release of Alhassan Saeed from the Nima Police station on the grounds of good behavior. Characters like this should not be allowed to walk freely to continue to create such fraud in our well respected democratic process. Anyone who does political business with Alhassan Saeed and Gilbert Barnor does so at their own risk. We want the Ghanaian public to be aware that the Great Consolidated Popular Party is very viable, strong and actively working at the grassroots level holding elections at the constituencies. The National Congress will be completed by May 2012. Domestication is still the best policy for Ghana! God bless Ghana.
