CLOGSAG To Start Strike Action Tomorrow

The Northern Regional Executive Committee of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced a sit-down strike beginning Thursday, February 9. Mr Ali Anafo, Northern Regional Secretary of CLOGSAG, who announced the decision at a press briefing in Tamale on Wednesday, said the strike action would be necessitated by the failure of government to address all issues relating to the migration of its members onto the Single Spine Salary Structure SSSS. He said it was also in support of the National Executive Committees directive to all CLOGSAG members to get ready for a sit down strike by February 9, 2012. Mr Anafo mentioned the outstanding issues as the payment of top-up allowances to all CLOGSAG members as well as migration of all its members onto the SSSS. He said the governments handling of the implementation of the SSSS rather led to more distortions and disparities in the public sector salary regime instead of solving them. He said the entire membership of CLOGSAG in the region would support efforts to ensure that equity and fairness prevailed in salaries and conditions of service for all public sector workers. Mr Anafo called on all CLOGSAG members in the Northern Region to wear their red bands and all CLOGSAG offices hoist red flags.
