Management of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has teamed up with MoneyGram International, a global payment system provider, to offer money transfer services to clients throughout the bank's branches and sales outlets.

Speaking at the official launch of the ADB MoneyGram services on Thursday in Accra, Ms Funmi Omitowoju, MoneyGram Regional Director of Anglophone West Africa, said ADB and MoneyGram had many things in common which gave both parties the business potential for growth.

"MoneyGram has wide reach and is available in many markets across the globe. Similarly, ADB has wide and growing network branches countrywide," she said.

Ms Omitowoju expressed the hope that the synergies in the joint experiences of both institutions as well as the visions and values of the parties would come into play in the way the bank renders services to its customers.

She said ADB had earned an award at this year's MoneyGram Agents Conference in Mombassa, Kenya, as the fastest growing MoneyGram agent in Africa, owing to the bank's growth and performance within a short period of time.

Ms Omitowoju called on management of ADB to double efforts to render "fast, safe and reliable MoneyGram service" to the bank's numerous customers.

Mr Anthony Kemavor, Head of Money Transfer and Remittances of ADB, said the decision of partnering with MoneyGram International would not conflict with the terms of agreement and business relationship that already existed between the ADB and Western Union, a competitor in the money transfer business.

He gave the assurance that the bank would continue to render quality service to customers adding that ADB would not fail to respect the terms of business agreement that the bank would contract with any other financial partner.

Mr Kemavor said the bank was giving the opportunity for customers to have access to quality service delivery in the money transfer industry by enrolling another partner in the business.

MoneyGram International is a global leader in worldwide money transfer services, working closely with specially chosen agents in 186,000 locations across 190 countries and territories, including Ghana.
