Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), Ghana, is extending its branch network expansion to the Eastern and Central regions of the country with effect from next year.

The move forms part of the bank’s resolve to reach people from all parts of the country with what it described as “high value and rich banking services”.

The General Manager of the bank, Mr Jamiu Yusuff, announced this when journalists from Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia and Sierra Leone, who are presently on a week’s training workshop in the country, went on a tour of the bank.

The GTBank course for reporters, which started since 1996, is designed to help enhance the professional skills of reporters in the brands and marketing business; capital market; arts and financial sectors, as well as increase their knowledge of the financial industry.

“Our bank in Ghana presently has 23 branches in six regions of the country and we are set to move to the two regions soon to bring our banking services to those people there”, he said.

He said the bank, in its quest to demonstrate its commitment to stay in Ghana for long, was not renting offices but building its own structures.

GTBank retained its title as the Bank Of The Year at the last Ghana Banking Awards organised by Corporate Initiative Ghana (CIG). They also took the title for the year 2009 to become the second Nigerian bank to win that coveted award.

With regard to profitability, the bank ranks ninth, a feat Mr Yusuff said would be improved gradually in the coming years through innovation and the delivery of services deserving of an award-winning bank.

Having entered Ghana, GTbank becomes the second largest contributor to the group’s financial portfolio.
