The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Johnson Asiama has resigned.

His resignation took effect on Tuesday, January 02, 2018.

It is however unclear what reasons may have led to the early resignation of Dr Asiama.

Dr. Asiamah in December 2017, dismissed reports of his resignation when the issue first came up, saying he was on a ten-day leave.

Dr. Asiama was appointed on the 5th of April 2016 by then-President, John Dramani Mahama.

He rose through the ranks after joining the bank in 1996 from Assistant Director, until his appointment as Deputy Governor.

He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of  Southampton, United Kingdom, and an MPhil in Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon.
