Mr. Richard Quartey, Acting Auditor General, said on Thursday that the Audit Service was re-strategizing to improve on its service delivery as well as satisfy international standards.

Mr. Quartey said: "Audit Service has moved from regulatory and financial auditing, and we have now moved into Information Technology, Value for Money as well as Forensic Auditing."

He was speaking to journalists at the Audit Service's end of year Thanksgiving Service held at the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Accra. The occasion also coincided with the Audit Service's centenary celebration.

Mr. Quartey said the Audit Service was also going to step into environmental auditing where activities of institutions which dealt with the protection of the environment would be tackled.

To facilitate their work, he indicated that it would roll out more training programmes for personnel so they could improve on service delivery.

He was happy that the Audit Service had been able to audit Ministries, Departments and Agencies and submitted their reports to Parliament on time.

In a sermon, the Reverend Fred Deegbe, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, exalted personnel of the Audit Service to desist from being "men pleasers", but rather strive to work assiduously for God and country.

He said God created man to worship, work and witness him to mankind.

According to him it was work that enabled every man to cater for himself and his family, adding "God is the one that provided you with work and he is watching you and he would reward you accordingly."

"Don't' pretend to be working. There would a reward for whatever you do, so strive hard to contribute your quota to the development of the society and the nation as a whole."

The Rev. Deegbe noted that there were some people who hated transparency and accountability but charged personnel to live above reproach and improve on their service delivery as they stepped into the New Year.
