In its quest to fight against the deadly Malaria disease, Total Petroleum Ghana Limited (Total Ghana) as part of activities to commemorate this year’s World Malaria Day organized a series of activities for residents of Kasoa Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East Area of the Central Region.

Riding on the heels of the worldwide theme ‘Roll back Malaria for Good’, Total Ghana under the auspices of the Ghana Health Service on Tuesday 23rd April 2019 visited the Ofaakor New Market Health Centre where they distributed treated mosquito bed nets and insecticide sprays to scores of pregnant and lactating mothers at the maternity section of the center.

Similarly on Thursday 25th April 2019, Total Ghana upon joining forces with the Ghana Education Service staged an edutainment program interspersed with plays, cultural displays and a quiz competition for school children from the Ofaakor cluster and Nahadatu Islamic basic schools.

Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, The Corporate Social Responsibility Officer of Total Ghana, Charlotte Someah-Kwaw hinted that “the Total World Malaria programs held over the past 10 years has impacted thousands of children in schools as well as pregnant and lactating mothers at several health posts and communities spanning the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Northern and Western Regions of the country.

The company’s network of service stations has also become an effective platform to expand its reach to the motoring public by distributing treated mosquito bed nets to commercial drivers and other customers.”

“These initiatives represent Total Ghana’s commitment towards social interventions in communities and to foster sustainable development. It also illustrates the company’s dedication towards ensuring environmental sustainability,” Charlotte Someah-Kwaw added.

The program demonstrated Total Ghana’s commitment towards achieving Roll Back Malaria goals in the fight against malaria.

Not only can Total Ghana boast of an ISO 9001:2015 certification coupled with a  retail network of more than 250 service stations across the ten regions of the country with activities spanning the Aviation, Bitumen and commercial businesses but the company has been a recognized ambassador in the fight against malaria, deploying anti-malaria programs every year in vulnerable and deprived communities to contribute to the mitigation efforts of global entities worldwide.

In order to further the cause, Total Ghana intensified the awareness about malaria, its effects, and how it can be prevented by organizing a forum for its staff across the country.
