The Founder and General Overseer of the Christian Action Faith Ministries, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has called on the government to support the growth of indigenous Ghanaian businesses, particularly the banks.
Using the Nigerian business mogul, Aliko Dangote, as an example to buttress his point, the man of God in a sermon explained that Dangote has reached where he is today because of the support of the Nigerian government.
“Mr Dangote is a Nigerian. And the Nigerian government makes sure that one of their own would rise. Nigeria has, at least, raise up one…come up with policies to have one of their own to become huge, big and great,” he said.
Archbishop Duncan-Williams further pointed out that all adverts on CNN, talking about Africa were advertisement of Nigerian banks and that there was no Ghanaian bank among those advertised on CNN. “Now listen; I am not a politician. I don’t understand the engagements in what is going on. So, I am not talking to any bank, but I am saying that at least, for 62 years, there should be one indigenous bank,” he said.
According to him, he is not calling on the government to support Ghanaian banks because he is benefiting from them, but because he loves his country and wants to see his countrymen succeeding in their chosen businesses.
“That’s what I am saying. I don’t know the details and I am not speaking for any bank. I don’t serve on any bank. I don’t benefit from any bank. I am just somebody who loves my country and I am going to see my countrymen making on the international scene and that’s all,” the man of God noted.

No Nigerian central bank governor will will sit down and allow the board of directors of one bank (who own only 15% of total assets of the bank) to share out 75% of the bank's total assets among themselves as loans without the right records. That is what former BOG governor, kofi wampah did. Noo Nigerian bank will transfer $65 million of innocent depositors money to the US to buy a bank there, and also allow directors to use dopositors moneys for their own investment deals. That is what GN bank did. The list can go on and on, and you will know why no ghanaian bank is advertising on cnn.
Ojam,Because of the open forum you think you can insult anybody even great father's of our time. From your comment I know the level of your wisdom Pray that your family will one day have some one who will achieve a tenth of what he has achieved
The first sign of lack of wisdom is to criticize without an understanding of what you choose to criticize. The second sign of lack of wisdom is to criticize when you the critic do not have a well thought out solution to the problem that you choose to criticize. Failure to observe these two basic principles makes one sound unintelligent, myopic and just an attention seeker.
Papa you are 10,000 correct. Don't mind their insults. That is what we are noted for.
Osofo Duncan, you don't know how regulators like Prof Soludo and Emir Sanusi whipped Nigerian Banks into line before they became what they are now. Please stop this ignorance.
