Total Petroleum Ghana PLC (TotalEnergies) has launched a new lubricant product TOTAL QUARTZ for car engines to last ''younger for longer''.
The new product comes with unique features to give vehicle drivers an added value and a better feel of their cars.
Total Quartz, which was launched on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Kempinski Hotel-Gold Coast City, Accra, is designed with a QR code, the first of its kind, to ensure drivers authenticate the product before purchase and also intended to avoid duplication and adulteration of the lubricant.
Unveiling the qualities of the lubricant, the Lubricants Manager of Total Petroleum Ghana PLC, Henry Adzewodah stated; "Total Petroleum Ghana PLC is a customer-centric company and we continuously innovate to bring value to our valued and cherished customers. And, in this direction, there was a global research on commercial and our end consumers to have their feedback on our lubricant packages and their feedback informed the decision to relook at the packaging offer that we have for our lubricants.
" . . we're improving the design of the bottle to give it an ultimate level of robustness and also the labels of the bottles have been redesigned, and in line with our sustainability condition, also to ensure that we are environmentally conscious. And we are very much concerned about our customers, so in this design, we do well to ensure that the labels are very readable and very easy to understand. So, if a customer is not even able to read, based on the design and the pictographs that have been embodied in the design of the label, anyone who is not even able to read will be able to make meaning and, in so doing, be able to make the informed choice on the type of lubricant to use."
" . . we are also very much concerned about the quality of the product that the customer is picking. So, we are also ensuring that QR code has been embedded in the design of the label and that offers the customer an opportunity to authenticate the genuineness of the pack that he or she is picking...And these are the changes that come with the new bottle design; it has a bigger surface area. A bigger surface area and with this bigger surface area, basically, it means that the label is able to take a bigger space compared to the former bottle. It has a bigger side handle and with this side handle with economic features, it ensures a firm grip of the bottle and it makes it easier to hold and also easier to pour.
''The cap of the bottle has also been redesigned and the precision of the design of the cap is to ensure there is no loss or no splash of the oil when you're pouring the oil. So, at the end of the day, you are able to get all the oil out of the bottle. In line with the new strategy, what we've also done is that the logo of our blockbuster products have also been revamped and by the three blockbuster products, I'm referring to the Total Quartz mostly for passenger cars. We're looking at the Hi-Perf for motorcycles and we're looking at the Rubia...for heavy-duty vehicles," he added.
The new product also comes with an "age-resistance" feature to withstand high temperatures and deliver high performance under extreme pressure conditions.
TotalEnergies Brand Ambassador, Stephen Appiah was present during the launch.
Present at the event was the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, who in his keynote address before the audience, disclosed he has sanctioned 102 Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) for corrupt practices but commended Total Energies saying "not once have I seen Total in this list".
"And so, I want to congratulate you this evening on this new packaging that you are about to unveil and to encourage you that, beyond the unveiling, it is also important to communicate what is actually in the bottle...So, apart from the packaging, it is also important for you to communicate the unique qualities of your lubricant'', he further said.
He advised the management and staff of TotalEnergies to "continue to be a standard for industry players and to make the statement that you don't necessarily have to cut corners even in the midst of competition in order to make profit''.
He also cautioned OMCs that the Authority is ''no longer in the era where NPA looks the other way for people to break the rules of the industry with impunity. It's not going to happen!"
" . . so to tell you that once you play by the rules, the NPA will also regulate the industry in a fair just manner that allows everybody and every company that play by the rules to engage its innovative practices and to make profit," the NPA Boss asserted.
