MIIF

The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) is a wholly-owned Government of Ghana Fund. It was established by the Minerals Income Investment Fund Act, 2018 (Act 978), as amended by the MIIF Amendment Act, 2020 (Act 1024).

The Fund is mandated to ensure:

Monetization of the minerals income in a beneficial, responsible, transparent, accountable, and sustainable manner; and Development and implementation of measures to reduce the budgetary exposure to the minerals income fluctuations.

The Fund intends to add value to the small-scale mining sector through a Private Public Partnership (PPP) Small-Scale Mining Incubation Program which would channel a targeted amount of US$250 Million as support capital to the small-scale mining sector over the next five years.

The Fund is also empowered by law to create a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in any jurisdiction in furtherance of its objects. I Ended Up On Radio By ‘Accident’ – Kojo Frempong

FLASHBACK: Former broadcaster, Kojo Frempong, has revealed how he got into radio by ‘accident’.

Speaking to Lexis Bill on Thursday, on the Personality Profile on Joy FM, Mr Frempong said an event he organised with his national service colleagues at Daboase in Wassa East District of the Western Region, landed him his first radio opportunity.

According to him, he and his friends organised a beauty pageant for which he was the MC, although he had no background on how to be an MC for a show.

“One of the judges on the night told me I did a brilliant job, I was good and hence was fit to be on the radio. After that, some preferences were created for me at the time when Sky Power FM had started so I could work there.

“Upon arrival at the Sky Power FM, I was told recruitments were done but Wilson Arthur gave me a slot and that is how I have been living the accident for the past twenty-five years,” the aspiring Member of Parliament of Wenchi in the Bono Region narrated.

When asked how he landed himself at Joy FM several years later, he pointed out that: “One day, I got a call that a certain Charles Mensah was looking for me. He was head of administration and finance, upon arrival, the contract and that was how I got to work with Komla Dumor, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and several other big names there.”

The 2014 Television Presenter of the Year Award winner said he worked with Joy FM for over three years after which he resigned to pursue his own entrepreneurship ambitions.

Kojo as a media person has worked on TV3 and Kwese TV for a long span of time until he went into a long hiatus to engage in politically affiliated projects and to pursue a course at Harvard University.

Earlier this year, he announced his decision to contest the upcoming elections as an aspiring member of Parliament for Wenchi constituency on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
