Spokesperson for the Vice President, Dr. Gideon Boako, has, in a Facebook post, dismantled the claims being made by Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and his loyalists to the effect that the Trade Minister was made a promise by then candidate Akufo-Addo that he would be the next flagbearer of the NPP after him (Nana Addo).
According to the astute economist, the decision by Alan Kyerematen to contest President Akufo-Addo multiple times if even such a promise was made, made the said promise redundant.
This is the full text on Dr. Boako’s Facebook timeline:
“So I go into a contest with you. I get more votes than you but not sufficient enough to secure me the required 50% plus 1. You came next to me and instead of a second round contest you concede to me. That's nice. I acknowledge you in my acceptance speech and in order to ensure greater unity I indicate that you will come after me. Few months later you decided to abandon me and the team to fight our own fight on a flimsy excuse. Fair enough you rescind your decision and join us. We heartily accept you back. I go into the main contest but unfortunately lost. Instead of keeping to the commitment of conceding to me to go again so you can come after you contest me. I lost and decided to go again and there again you did not concede to me but contested me. Once you do this you have withdrawn the commitment you made to me. Should the assurance I gave you still hold even after you subsequently withdrew your commitment to me on two separate occasions? Once you withdrew your commitment the consequential assurance from me also stands withdrawn. With this, any desperate and awkward attempt to create a false impression that an assurance for which tenets you have grossly violated still holds can only be laughable”
The Trade and Industry Minister is reported to have said that as he sacrificed for President Akufo-Addo, someone else, possibly, Vice President Bawumia, should also sacrifice for him to lead the party in 2024.
Dr. Gideon Boako has, by his post, deflated this message from the camp of Mr. Kyerematen.

The aide must be talked to, what he is doing does not win elections. Even if his boss wins he will still need Alan supporters to be able to win the general elections
A house divided against itself cannot stand. Dr Baah, what will happen if you don't speak to the issue. This are the things that leads ruling party's into opposition. You have forgotten that if Bawumia wins the presidential primaries he will need the votes of Allan's supporters however few to cross the finishing line. Why won't you wait for the delegates to decide? If Bawumia is popular the votes will show. I wish Bawumia speaks to his close aides to watch their tongues. At times you make sense when you keep quiet. Silence they say is golden . The Kufuor elephant had big ears as usual and listened a lot. The Akuffo Addo elephant equally have big ears unfortunately it doesn't listen, at worse it hears but won't listen. Currently NPP supporters feel neglected and disappointed. Party enthusiasm is at an all time low. Instead of putting plans in place to satisfy them you sit there talking about who deserves to lead. If your preferred candidate wins the primaries and the party foot soldiers decide not to vote at all on Election Day can he win? People are complaining all over the place and instead of finding ways and means to make them happy you sit in the comfort of your office funded by the tax payer and speak anyhow. Allan and Bawumia, who is the senior in NPP ie who came first before the other? Truth be told. That is not to say Bawumia is not qualified but let's allow the delegates to decide. Meat that has fat will prove it by the heat of fire. I love NPP but this particular NPP is completely different from the Kufuor one. Kufuor took government and party along, a very admirable skill, this current NPP is just moving leaving the party far behind only to look back at the last minute to see nobody following them.
Such a baseless thoughtless claim. Did i assure you never to contest you again? As a Dr. you should know what a promise is and what commitment is. In response to your claim of neglect, Akufo-Addo is recorded to have said that in the contest that won him the throne, nobody and I repeat NOBODY campaigned for him more than ALAN JOHN KWADWO KYEREMATEN. Therefore tell your Cafe Operator that we need more jobs before TAXATION, so if he has any thinking to do is to collaborate with the CHIEF and find jobs before introducing the MOMO FRAUD TAX that will find money for him to continue his NDC families personal agenda of ***barred word*** the state and only aggravate the plights of Ghanaians. May you have a good lunch at Alisa Hotel. Joker!!!
