I'm very sure that the people of Ledzokuku who voted against Dr Okoe Boye as their MP must have regretted by now considering the abysmal performance of his successor.
Recently, l found myself interacting with some basic students at Teshie Lascala where l asked the question: "Who is the MP for Ledzokuku" and to my surprise, almost all of them answered; Dr. Okoe Boye. That's how unpopular his successor is.
God works in mysterious ways, you know. It's no wonder that NDC members, both in and outside Ledzokuku constituency admire Dr. Okoe Boye. They all attest to the fact that he is smart, intelligent, articulate and altruistic! But like we often say in our local parlance, no prophet has honours in his hometown.
Do you know that Dr. Okoe Boye still goes to LEKMA hospital every Monday to provide free medical consultation services to his constituents even though he's no longer their MP? That's how generous and caring he is!!
How many politicians will do this? I remember how one NDC MP in the then Brong Ahafo region, after losing the 2016 parliamentary elections, sent thugs to a polyclinic in her constituency to cart away hospital beds and medical supplies she had previously donated to the facility. Yes, that's how vindictive some politicians are. Okoe Boye is the opposite!
Unfortunately, many a time, we don't value what we have until we lose it. Such is the case of Ledzokuku constituency. l still can't fathom why anybody wanting development will vote against this proper development agent.
Not to exaggerate, but l can state without a shred of doubt that if we are to nominate THREE (3) young politicians across the divide who can crack their brains and profess solutions to the myriad of challenges we face, Okoe will be one.
Aside his intellectual prowess, he has this calm demeanor and great sense of humor which attracts people to his side. I'm not surprised he's doing great job at NHIA.
Nummoɛ, keep up the good works. I'm certain in my mind that the very people who voted against you will be the same people who will campaign for your comeback in 2024. You're the man of the people!
