Liverpool returned to winning ways with Everton fan Adam Lallana scoring his first goal for the club since his Ł23million summer move from Southampton.
Having won just once in six games since Daniel Sturridge's injury including a disappointing midweek Champions League defeat in Basle, manager Brendan Rodgers dropped Mario Balotelli to the bench and watched as Lallana filled the goalscoring vaccuum to fire Liverpool ahead on the stroke of half-time.
And after Saido Berahino had levelled with a controversial penalty, Jordan Henderson sealed the points to lift Liverpool up to seventh and send most of the 44,000 Anfield crowd happy.
