A 25-year-old ex-convict has been
sentenced by a Kumasi Circuit Court to five years imprisonment in hard
labour for stealing a cellular phone and cash of GH4.00.
Kwame Peter pleaded guilty to the offence of unlawful entry and stealing.
Police Chief Inspector Rejoice Sumatu told the Court presided over by
Mr Justice Emmanuel Amo-Yartey that the complainants, Florence Adwoa
Asieduaa and Akua Sarpong are co-tenants at Anomagye-Nkwanta whilst
convict resides at New Suame, all in Kumasi.
On Tuesday, May 10, at about 0740 hours, the two left their room to buy food.
They returned only to meet Peter right inside their room and when
questioned, he told them he was looking for water.
The complainants would not take the lame explanation and with the
help of neighbours arrested him.
The prosecution said a search on him uncovered Sarpongs phone
and Florences GH4.00
He was handed over to the police and in his caution statement,
