A 36-year-old orange seller Beatrice Lawetey was gruesomely murdered with a cutlass by her boy-friend at Apremdo near Takoradi in Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
The suspect, Francis Agbemena, a 37-year-old unemployed bolted after committing the crime.
The Kwesimintim District Police, Superintendent Ayamga Aklogo Yakubu confirmed the tragic incident to the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi on Saturday.
He said the suspect had a two-year-old child with the deceased but lived separately.
Supt Yakubu said on Saturday January 19th at 1430 hours the suspect went to the residence of Lawetey at Apremdo and picked a quarrel with her and during the exchanges Agbemena picked a sharp cutlass and murdered his girl-friend.
The deceased screamed loudly, which attracted neighbours to the scene but the suspect took to his heels and managed to escape.
The corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital at Sekondi pending autopsy. The Police is investigating the matter.
