Seven suspects were arrested at Kenyase in Kumasi after a police patrol team from the Tafo Pankrono Division stormed their base on October 8, 2013.

Detectives and armed policemen arrested the suspects at Kenyasi for allegedly taking part in armed robbery attacks at Antoa and its environs.

The Deputy Public Relations Officer (CEO) of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Sergeant. Godwin Ahianyo, in a statement, said the officers moved to the area as part of an operation to arrest the murderers of one Bismarck Amponsah.

Bismarck, on August 29, 2013 at about 12:30am, was killed at Kenyasi by some men.

He explained that the police initially arrested three suspects-Yusif Inusah, 25, aka Smoke, Awal Habib Shaibu, 19, and Ibrahim Mohammed, 20, at their hideout.

The police retrieved Toshiba laptop, tiger generator, three pairs of scissors, a lighter and some dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp from the suspects.

According to the statement, the suspects, in their caution statement, admitted robbing Gideon Antwi, a commercial driver and his mate of their mobile phones and GH¢50 at gunpoint.

Yusif Inusah claimed ownership of the said items, it said.

Sgt. Ahianyo asserted that the patrol team also arrested four suspects, who were identified as Joshua Amoah, 14, Emmanuel Kwame Amponsah, 18, Kwasi Boakye, 17, and Atta Oduro, 18.

They were in possession of two locally made pistols, six AAA live cartridges, a jack knife and mobile phones.

The four said they robbed Richard Aguure, 26, of his Samsung mobile phone and wallet containing GH¢200 and ATM and insurance cards at Kenyase on October 7, 2013 at gunpoint.

They also confessed to robbing a girl and her boyfriend of their money and mobile phones at Santos Park at Krofrom.

The seven suspects, the statement noted, have also been linked to the attack on Gideon and his mate at Antoa.

They have since been remanded into custody by a Juaben Circuit Court pending further investigations.
