A motorbike repairer, Kwame Ofosu, 28 and Adango Mbabila, a butcher and Khebab seller, 35, have appeared before the Kade District Magistrate Court for stealing a brand new motorbike valued at Gh¢ 3,000.00 belonging to a teacher at Asoum.

Their pleas were not taken and remanded in Police custody to re-appear before the court.

Giving the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Francis Cobbina said on June 21 at about 7 pm, the complainant, Agyapong Maxwell parked his brand new unregistered Q Link motorbike in his house and retired to bed.

The next morning at about 5 am, the complainant detected that the motorbike had been stolen.

Upon a tip-off, Ofosu and Mbabila were arrested and during interrogation, Ofosu admitted the offence and told the police that, he together with Mbabila and one Addo, now at large, stole the motorbike.

They took the bike to Kade where Mbabila alighted and Ofosu and Addo took the bike to Nsawam.

Addo’s elder brother met the group at Nsawam from Accra and collected the bike to Accra to sell.

On the same day, when Ofosu and Addo returned to Kade, Addo received an MTN money transfer from his elder brother on his cell phone and Addo went to the MTN Office at Kade and collected the money with Ofosu.

Addo did not disclose the specific amount to Ofosu but Addo gave him Gh¢ 270.00.

After investigations, Ofosu and Mbabila were arraigned before the court charged with conspiracy to steal, unlawful entry and stealing.
