Emmanuel Kwame, a labourer has been put before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly sodomizing a 7-year-old pupil in an empty building under the pretext of taking her to school.
The accused person was arraigned before a Circuit Court, presided over Abena Oppong Agyin Doku and charged with defiling a girl below the age of 16. He pleaded not guilty.
He has been remanded into police custody while the case has been adjourned to November 30, 2015.
The prosecutor Inspector Grace Bandoh said the victim is a pupil of Unity Compound Primary School located at Kanda and lives with her uncle at Nima.
She said the accused person is a labourer and lives at Mamobi, adding that on November 16 2015 at about 10 am the accused person saw the victim in uniform by the roadside.
According to her, Kwame approached her and offered to help her get to school and consequently boarded a trotro with the little girl.
The prosecuting officer noted that the accused person alighted together with the victim and lured her into a building where he took off her uniform, panties and forcibly sodomized her.
Furthermore, she stated that the accused person put the victim on board another Trotro which took her to school.
The girl narrated her ordeal to her class teacher.
In addition she stated that the matter was immediately reported to the police and the accused was apprehended.
The victim was issued with a police medical form to attend hospital for examination and treatment.
She explained that Kwame denied the offence in his caution statement but admitted inserting his fingers into the vagina of the victim.
