The Winneba Magistrate’s Court has sentenced two brothers to two years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing items worth 2,247.00 belonging to the New Beginning Revival Church in Winneba.
Emmanuel Afenyi Abeiku and Isaac Mensah pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Peter Agbelie told the court, presided over by Mr Alexander Oworae, that the complainant was Pastor Isaac Assafuah-Arthur in charge of the New Beginning Revival Church while Abeiku, unemployed, and Mensah, a farmer, are brothers and resided in Winneba.
He said on 11th June, 2016 the two accused persons entered the church premises and stole 55 pieces of plastic chairs, three plastic tables, 15 yards of woolen carpet, one office table, two coffee tables, three curtains, six boxes of wall tiles and 11 Wawa boards.
Inspector Agbelie said the complainant reported the theft to the police and investigations led to the retrieval of some of the items from the accused persons
The items retrieved were six plastic chairs, one plastic table, three boxes of wall tiles and the 15 yards woolen carpet which had been handed over to the complainant as directed by the court.
The prosecution said the items left to be retrieved were valued at 1,311 Ghana cedis.
