Fifty-eight suspected criminals were on Monday dawn arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command in a swoop in parts of Ashaiman and Tema.
The suspects were arrested for various offences including possession and use of narcotics, robbery, unlawful assembly and causing damage.
Out of the 58, five were linked to series of robberies, three were in possession of 60 wrappers of compressed parcels and a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp respectively.
The operation which took place at Christian Village, a suburb of Ashaiman and Tema Community One, Sites Five and Two, was carried out by 120 police officers led by Assistant Commissoner of Police (ACP) Kwaku Boadu Preprah, Deputy Tema Regional Police Commander.
A statement from the Command noted that six motorbikes, two of which were unregistered, one bicycle, three empty gas cylinders and a sheep, all suspected to be stolen items were retrieved during the operation.
The swoop, the Command stated, was necessitated by the rising number of complaints received on daily basis from residents.
