President John Dramani Mahama on Friday stated that free education to senior high school students is not the preserve of any particular political party in the country.
"When I was presenting the State of the Nation Address to Parliament, I said we will implement 'progressive free education 'and my checks at the Copyright offices indicate that no one has the intellectual property of free education," President Mahama added.
President Mahama was inaugurating the National Regional Office Complex of the National Democratic Congress as part of his two- day official visit to the Central Region.
President Mahama said it was unacceptable for the NDC party that had existed for over 20 years to have only two owned regional offices out of the 10 regional capitals.
He appealed to the party members to strive hard to acquire more regional and constituency offices to avoid perennial hiring of private houses for offices.
President Mahama, who earlier addressed members of the Central Regional House of Chiefs hinted that government would next month dispatch a follow- up team to China to finalize decisions on the Chinese Development Bank loan.
The release of the loan, President Mahama added would help government to execute development projects including the expansion of all regional house of chiefs.
He urged them to dedicate the building to the late President John Evans Atta Mills to immortalize him for his contribution to the development of the party in the country.
Ama Benyiwa-Doe, member of Council of State, who the building has been named after commended the regional party hierarchy for recognizing her contribution to the growth of the party in the region.
She said she was particularly delighted because the naming ceremony was done on the day she was marking her 64th birthday, and that would continue to spur her on in her political discourse.
