The Greater Accra branch of the Ghana Pharmaceutical Society has held a debate for its members who are contesting this year's parliamentary elections.

They are NDC's Sedinam Tamakloe Ationu for Anyaa - Sowutuom, CPP's Susan Adu Amankwa for Tema West and Emmanuel Agyarko of the NPP for Ayawaso West Wuoguon.

The debate was an opportunity for the three candidates to outline their parties programmes and policies for the health sector with special emphasis on the Pharmaceutical sector.

The three candidates were all unanimous on the need for a bio equivalence centre in Ghana and committed their parties to its establishment. This, they said is critical in the manufacturing of drugs locally.

Madam Sedinam Tamakloe, who is also the National Coordinator of the National Youth Authority, said the NDC as a social democratic party is interested in the welfare of all its citizens.

She noted that since the National Democratic Congress, NDC, came into office, the health sector has seen a lot of improvement.

This position was however rejected by NPP's Emmanuel Agyarko. He observed that things on the ground do not suggest any improvement in the sector but rather a deterioration.

For her part, Madam Susan Amankwa maintained that it is only the CPP that has what it takes to make Ghana better. She said all the good programmes and policies like the free SHS and NHIS were conceived by Dr. Nkrumah.

At the end of the debate the pharmacists called on the public to vote for the three candidates in their constituencies to enable them to serve as the voices of pharmacists in parliament.
