The Ghana Medical Association has stated that it is resolute with its strike and would not call it off until certain conditions are fulfilled.

The latest development by the Doctors comes after several individuals and institutions were expecting the doctors to announce the suspension of their month long strike.

According to the Doctors, government must still be blamed for the protracted strike and their failure to address their concerns.

The Ghana Medical Association embarked on a nationwide strike citing three major issues, which included market premiums, and pensions.

The National Labour Commission has described their strike as illegal and proceeded to court to direct the doctors to return to the hospitals.

However, speaking to XYZ News, the Greater Accra President of the Ghana Medical Association, Dr. Owusu Sekyere stated that government has failed to show that it is committed to solving their grievances.

According to Dr. Sekyere, there have been several instances where meetings have been arranged between the executives of the GMA and the government officials but the government officials failed to show up and resolve the matter.

He added that officials of the GMA have availed themselves to all the meetings that have been called by the government, but added that the officials have failed to show commitment to ending the impasse.

He added that Doctors will not call off their strike until government address their grievances.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Employment, Nii Armah Ashietey, who the Doctors accused of failing to turn up for a meeting today told XYZ News that he failed to meet the doctors because he had other engagements.

According to him, he had not arranged to meet the doctors and it is surprising to hear the Doctors accuse him and government of lack of commitment to addressing their grievances.
