The Minority in Parliament says if government do not put in measures to resolve various issues facing the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), it will collapse.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa East, William Kwasi Sabi, addressing the media on Wednesday, accused the Mahama-led administration of starving the scheme with the necessary funds to effectively provide healthcare for its subscribers.
But speaking in an interview Thursday on Peace FM, The Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs of the NHIS, Ametor Quayme said he was not surprised of the posture of the main opposition party, NPP; because that is their usual tune.
I dont think its quite appropriate to paint such a dull picture of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). But I am not surprised. This is a normal and usual tune of the opposition NPP and so if they are still singing it, I am not surprised he said.
According to him, It is true government is facing challenges with the economy and disbursement of funds; and it is not only health insurance but there are measures being put in place to solve the issue. It is not intentional or deliberate on the part of government for the payments to delay.
