Fire gutted part of the laboratory stores of the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Wednesday.
Reporting from Tamale, Ohene Ntow, PEACE FM correspondent, indicated that the fire which started at about 8:30 am, has destroyed some theatre equipment and medicines.
According to this reporter, had it not been the early intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service, the fire would have spread to other parts of the hospital.
The fire service says it has already begun investigations to ascertain the real cause of the fire.
This incident comes barely a month after fire gutted the Tema Central Medical Stores in Accra.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Prosper Akandon has told newsmen that the hospital is also conducting their investigations to ascertain the amount of drugs and equipment destroyed in the fire outbreak.
