The ‘Cyber Knife’, as it’s called, is one-of-a-kind cancer equipment that aids in treating tumours growing at hard-to-reach parts of the body without the need for surgery, incisions, or anaesthesia
Chief Operations Officer for NSH, Dana Msaddi, explained that the CyberKnife is the first and only one in the entire United Arab Emirates and each session takes as short as 30 minutes to eliminate tumours in the system by destroying it from within.
“We have many unique features but the most recent addition to our hospital we inaugurated less than two years ago is the CyberKnife cancer Machine. This is the first and only one in the UAE. Basically it allows treating hard-to-reach or impossible-to-reach tumours without the need for Surgeries, incisions, anaesthesia, admission, or noting. It’s a 30-minute session that delivers extremely robotic high doses of radiation that destroys the tumours from within,” she said.
The CyberKnife was on display when representatives of African Media took a tour of the Neuro Spinal Hospital in Dubai as part of the Dubai health authority’s initiative to showcase the UAE’s healthcare to Africa and the world
